For many, their bridal is “their day, ” but this generous couple decided to make it about others. Fethullah Uzumcuoglu, 24, and Esra Polat, 20, of Turkey, decided to expend the money they had received for the bridal feeding Syrian refugees instead. Working together with Turkish charity Kimse Yok Mu, they took their place behind the counter still garmented in their wedding attire and expend the working day feeding 4000 people.
“We wanted to help our Syrian friends, ” the newlyweds shared in a statement through KYM. “Seeing the happiness in the eyes of the Syrian refugee infants is just priceless. We started our journey to happiness with making others happy and that’s a great feeling.”
The wedding took place in the southern Turkish city of Kilis, located on the Syrian border. According to the United Nations, Turkey has hosted more than a million Syrian refugees since existing conflicts began there in 2011; in total, four-million refugees have fled the war-torn country seeking shelter elsewhere.
Instead of throwing a party for themselves, Turkish couple Fethullah Uzumcuoglu and Esra Polat decided to do something different
“We think we’ve made an investment in happiness by sharing our dinner with Syrian refugees living in our city”
